BARBER VIENNA REVIEWS · ONYX CutsBarber reviews in Vienna — how to read them

Reviews are the only publicly verifiable signal a barbershop has — and they're almost always read wrong. Nearly everyone looks at the score. But the score is the least interesting part: past a certain volume every usable business settles between 4.7 and 5.0. What's interesting is everything beside it.

Volume first, then the score

A 5.0 out of fourteen reviews and a 4.8 out of a thousand aren't comparable. The first could come from two weeks, the second covers years and bad days. As a rule of thumb: below fifty reviews the score says little; from a few hundred it becomes load-bearing. We have 5.0 out of over 1,000 on Treatwell and 174 reviews on Google.

Look at the trend, not the average

A shop that was good three years ago and has slipped since still has a good average. That only becomes visible if you read the most recent reviews. Conversely a young business drags a few bad early ones along for a long time. The last ten say more than the average of all of them.

What the text says, not how many stars

„Great, will come again“ is not information. Useful reviews describe something: that someone asked first, that the transition still sat after three weeks, that an appointment started on time. Five reviews read in full are worth more than a thousand counted stars.

How to spot bought reviews

By clustering: twenty five-star reviews within a few days, all without text, from profiles with no other activity. By generic wording with no local detail. And by a mismatch between review count and visibility — a small shop with three thousand reviews and an empty room is an improbability.
