Barber at ONYX Cuts in Vienna drawing a line-up with a straight razor

TOP RATED BARBER VIENNA · ONYX CutsThe best barber in Vienna — the question nobody can answer honestly

We don't claim to be the best barber in Vienna. In Austria you're not allowed to without proof: a claim to a leading position has to be demonstrable, or it's misleading under competition law. What we do instead is write down how quality can be measured and put our own numbers beside it. You can check both yourself.

1. The number of reviews, not the score

A 5.0 out of fourteen reviews says almost nothing — it could come from one good week or from a circle of friends. A high score across several hundred reviews includes the bad days and stays high anyway; that's the statement. Our numbers: 5.0 out of over 1,000 reviews on Treatwell and 174 on Google, both public and not maintained by us.

2. The booking grid

The most honest signal, and you see it before your first visit. Anyone offering only quarter-hour blocks online cannot cut for three quarters of an hour, whatever the page says. Here a haircut takes 45 minutes, hair and beard around an hour, and that time sits in the calendar rather than only in the text.

3. How complete the price list is

If washing, styling, line-ups and the neck shave appear as separate items, they aren't in the cut. In practice that means they get dropped when the day is full. A good barber writes down what's included and bills nothing afterwards. Here it's €42, and everything is in it.

4. What the line-ups are made with

A straight razor or clippers — that's the difference that shows after a week. A drawn edge runs out sharp, a milled one frays. If you can't see it, you'll notice it in how long the cut lasts. Asking costs nothing, and the answer comes quickly.

5. Whether anyone contradicts you

The most underrated point. Someone who nods at every request is selling; someone who says a skin fade will go restless after ten days over a low whorl is working. A barber who advises against something loses a sale in the short term and gains a client in the long one — you'll spot that faster than any review will tell you.

Häufige Fragen

Was oft gefragt wird

Who is the best barber in Vienna?

That can't be answered seriously, because there's no test for it. What can be answered: which shop schedules how much time, what's included in the price, and how many people have reviewed it over what period. After that your own head decides.

How many reviews do you have?

Over 1,000 on Treatwell with a 5.0 and 174 on Google. Both profiles are public; the links are on the homepage.

What do you do differently?

45 minutes instead of 20, line-ups with a straight razor, and a price list without add-ons. None of that is unique — it's just rare to find all of it together.

Can I drop by without committing?

Yes. During the week someone is usually free for a short conversation, and we'll say honestly whether we're the right address for what you want.
