BARBER VIENNA · ONYX CutsBarber in Vienna — craft, not throughput
„Barber“ is not a protected term. In Vienna every second men's hairdresser now calls itself one, and from the outside you can't tell the difference. It shows in the work: whether the line-ups are drawn with a straight razor or cut with clippers, whether the beard gets a cheek line or just a shortening, and whether anyone asks before the cut how you wear your hair at home.
What a barber does differently
The men's cut is one craft, the work on the beard and with the blade another. A barber has both and approaches the head differently: working from the nape upwards rather than from the crown down, thinking in transitions rather than lengths, and drawing the lines at forehead, temple and neck with a straight razor. The difference holds about a week longer, because a drawn edge runs out sharp while a milled one frays.
Fade, taper, crop — and when each fits
The fade is the gradient without a visible edge, in four heights from low to skin. The taper keeps the transition flatter and grows out more kindly — the better call with a low hairline or a whorl at the nape. The crop leaves length on top and works with texture rather than contrast; it works on fine hair too, where a hard fade would show scalp. What suits you is decided by head shape and growth direction, not by fashion.
Beard and shave
On a beard it's the cheek line that decides the result, not the length. It has to match the jaw and mustn't sit too high, or the face reads narrow and the beard looks stuck on. The classic wet shave runs with a hot towel, skin preparation and aftercare — it takes longer than a machine shave and feels different too. Anyone who has never had one usually underestimates how much difference that makes.
Our barbers
Five senior barbers, each with their own signature. You choose freely at booking who cuts — and next time take the same one or switch. If you don't know a name, just book the next free slot; the result is the same, because we work to the same order.
Häufige Fragen
Was oft gefragt wird
What does a barber cost in Vienna?
The haircut starts at €42, hair and beard together at €68. The classic beard shave is €33, the deluxe version €36. Consultation, wash, styling and a drink are always included.
Can I choose my barber?
Yes, at every booking. If you want a particular barber, pick them in the booking window; if you're flexible, take the next free slot and you'll be seen sooner.
Do you do beard only, without a haircut?
Yes. Beard care, line-up and shave are bookable on their own. Taking both together costs less than two separate appointments and means coming only once.
How long is an appointment?
Haircut about 45 minutes, hair and beard around an hour, the classic wet shave about 30 minutes. We plan the time in rather than cutting it short at the end.
