FADE HAIRCUT VIENNA · ONYX CutsFade in Vienna — the transition that still sits after three weeks
A fade isn't a cut, it's a gradient: the length increases from the bottom up without a single visible edge. Whether it works is decided in two places — the height at which it starts, and how clean the transition is at the nape, the part you never see yourself.
Low, mid, high or skin — what actually differs
The name tells you where the gradient begins. A low fade starts just above the ear and stays restrained — the version nobody notices in an office and the one that grows out best. A mid fade begins at temple height and is the standard: visible, not loud. A high fade starts above the temple and makes the head read narrower and taller. Skin fade means the gradient runs down to bare skin — the sharpest look and the fastest to grow out, because two millimetres of regrowth already break the edge.
Which one suits your head
That depends less on taste than on two things: the shape of your head and how the hair grows at the nape. On a round face a high fade stretches the proportions; on a long face a low fade does the opposite and is usually the better call. If you have a low hairline or a whorl at the neck, a skin fade will look restless after ten days — then a taper is the honest recommendation. We talk about that before the cut, not after.
How long it lasts
A fade looks good for two to three weeks, a skin fade closer to ten to fourteen days. That isn't down to the work but to arithmetic: hair grows about a centimetre a month, and the shorter the base, the bigger the difference a millimetre makes. If you want the line sharp throughout, come every two weeks; if you can live with it softening, every four.
What's part of it here
A consultation before the clippers start, a wash, the cut itself, styling and a recommendation for the product that gets you the same result at home — plus a drink. None of it is billed separately. We work with BaByliss and Wahl, and the line-ups are drawn with a straight razor.
Häufige Fragen
Was oft gefragt wird
What does a fade cost in Vienna?
A haircut with a fade starts at €42 here. That covers the consultation, the wash, the cut, styling, product advice for home and a drink. Add the beard and the combination starts at €68.
How long does a fade take?
About 45 minutes. A skin fade can run longer because the transition into skin needs more passes — we plan that time in rather than cutting it short at the end.
Low, mid or high fade — which should I pick?
If you're unsure: mid fade. Visible enough that the cut reads as a cut, restrained enough to work anywhere. At the appointment we look at your head shape and hair growth and tell you if something else fits better.
How often do I need it tidied up?
Every two weeks for a permanently sharp line, otherwise every three to four. With a skin fade, the lower end of that range.
