A well-kept beard is not the shorter beard. It's the one whose lines suit the face: the cheek where it ends, the neck where it begins, and the transition into the hair. Those three edges decide whether a beard looks intended or merely grown.
Cheek line and neck line
The two most common mistakes people make on themselves sit exactly there. The cheek line gets drawn too low and makes the face read narrow and hollow; the neck line too high, which makes the beard look cut off rather than bounded. As a rule of thumb the neck line sits about two fingers above the Adam's apple, and the cheek line follows the natural growth boundary — straightened, not relocated.
Trimming by beard shape
A full beard needs volume at the sides and length at the chin, otherwise the head reads round. A goatee lives on symmetry and forgives no millimetre. Stubble isn't a length but a state — it doesn't get trimmed, it gets bounded. We use the straight razor for the edges and the clipper for the gradient.
Aftercare
Beard oil is a care product, not a styling one: it belongs on the skin underneath, not in the hair. Two or three pumps are enough for a full beard, less for a shorter one. If it itches, that's usually a skin problem rather than a beard problem. We'll tell you at the appointment which product makes sense in your case — and when none is needed.
