01 — Why you are stuck
You can cut. It just does not land every time.
Almost everyone who comes to us already cuts. Talent is not what is missing — someone watching and stepping in at the right moment is. Four sentences most people recognise:
The fade works — sometimes
Perfect on one head, a visible line on the next. Because the line is guessed rather than read.
Two hundred videos, no correction
Watching builds a feeling, not a skill. Without someone fixing your hand, you only repeat your mistake more neatly.
A cut takes you fifty minutes
Not because you are slow, but because the order is not settled and you do the same thing three times.
There is no time during the day
Between two clients nobody explains calmly why your blend breaks. That is what the evening is for.
Practising alone reaches a plateau quickly. With correction, skill keeps rising.
02 — What you get out of it
From your first cut to your own chair.
A course about fades isn't the goal. The goal is being able to make a living from it. Four stages, and you start wherever you are:
- 01
You can cut
After CUTS 101 you take a full men's cut from start to finish — clippers, fade, outline, beard. Not fast, but clean. That's the point where friends start asking.
- 02
You're fast enough for the floor
After CUTS PRO a cut sits in forty minutes. That's the line at which a chair pays for itself — below it you work against the clock instead of for the client.
- 03
You can apply
With a certificate, a portfolio of your own work and people who'll vouch for you. A barbershop doesn't hire on a CV, it hires on a trial cut — and you'll be ready for one.
- 04
Maybe with us
We're hiring ourselves. Anyone who stands out over six evenings gets a conversation and a trial day. That's not a promise — but we'll have watched you work before we decide, and no application can do that.
And if you don't want to make a living from it?
Also fine. Half our students cut friends, family and themselves — and just want to do it properly. Same course, same reason.
07 — Courses and prices
Choose where you start
Every course stands on its own. Included in every price: use of tools, course materials, the certificate of attendance and the one-to-one hours. You organise and bring your own models — if you cannot find any, we help you look.

Barbershop Blueprint
Die Zahlen, Verträge und Abläufe hinter ONYX Cuts — offengelegt.
- Was ein Shop wirklich kostet — vollständige Investitionsliste mit unseren echten Zahlen
- Finanzierung ohne Eigenkapital: Bank, Leasing, Förderungen, Lieferantenkredit, Staffelmiete
- Marke bauen: Name, Auftritt, Innenausbau, Fotos, Google-Profil, Bewertungen
On the final evening you go home with your own costing, worked through — investment list, pricing, break-even, timeline.
The Blueprint passes on commercial and organisational know-how from a working shop. It replaces neither legal, tax nor business consultancy; for binding advice we point you to the competent bodies, and we say in the course when that is the case.

08 — Evidence
What you can measure us by
The Academy is new, and we are only beginning to collect participant feedback. Rather than claim something, here are three things you can check yourself.
- 900+five-star reviews
- For the salon on Nordbahnstraße, counted across the platforms and publicly visible. The people who teach are the same ones standing at the chair every day.
- 4–6people per group evening
- Not a marketing number — the number of places. More will not fit at the chairs if everyone is to be corrected several times an evening.
- Codeon every certificate
- Every certificate carries an individual code. Enter it and you see immediately whether it is genuine, who it was issued to and for which course.
Free, no account
Read a module before you pay anything
Tools of the Trade — four lessons, ten drawings, about an hour of reading. It's the same module our students get. Not an extract and not a teaser.
- Why a pair of shears cuts, and when it pushes instead
- Guard lengths, and what happens between two numbers
- Razors, blades, and knowing which to reach for
- Maintenance — the part almost everyone skips
Free, twenty minutes
Talk to someone before you pay
Not a sales call. We ask where you are and what you're after, then tell you which course fits — including when the answer is that none of them does right now. We'd rather say that than put you in the wrong one.
- You tell us what you can do and what you want
- We tell you what's realistic and how long it takes
- If the price doesn't work, we talk instalments or make you our own price
- Then you decide in your own time — nothing gets signed on the call
10 — Questions
What we are asked most often
Still something open? Write to us — we answer ourselves, usually the same day.
Do I need prior experience?
Not for CUTS 101 — that course is meant for beginners with little or no experience, as well as career changers and hairdressers moving into men's cutting. CUTS PRO requires CUTS 101 or demonstrable practice; the specialist modules are bookable with no prerequisites.
When do the courses run?
Always in the evening after closing, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 pm to 9 pm, two full hours without a break. The included one-to-one hours last 60 minutes and are arranged individually, usually before opening or on our closing day.
What do the courses cost?
CUTS 101 costs € 2,290, CUTS PRO € 1,990, a specialist module € 790, CUTS COMPLETE € 7,900, the Barbershop Blueprint € 8,200, and a single one-to-one hour € 240 — € 1,990 for a block of ten. All prices include VAT; use of tools, course materials and the certificate of attendance are included. Payment by instalments is possible: at least € 500 down on booking, the balance in three to five instalments up to the final evening.
How big are the groups?
Four to six people for the practical courses, five to eight for the Blueprint, three to four for CUTS COMPLETE. More is impossible if everyone is to be corrected several times an evening. We would rather run one full course with six people than two half-empty ones with twelve.
What happens if too few people sign up?
Every course has a minimum number. If it is not reached ten days before the start, we move the block to the next date and tell you in good time. Amounts already paid carry over to the new date, or are refunded in full if you prefer.
Can I cancel?
Up to 14 days before the course starts you get the full amount back; between 14 and 7 days, half. After that, or if you do not show up, there is no entitlement to a refund; you may move once to a later block. One-to-one hours can be rescheduled free of charge up to 48 hours beforehand.
Do I have to bring models?
Yes. Depending on the course you need one or two models, which you organise and bring yourself — friends, family, colleagues, anyone willing to be cut. A single evening needs one; a multi-part block needs two, because you cannot cut the same head six times in a row. The number is stated with each course. There is a reason for it: you practise on a head whose hair you know and which you will keep cutting after the course. If you cannot find anyone, tell us in good time and we will help — nobody has to miss an evening over it. Tools for the course are provided; you are welcome to bring your own, and we will look at them and tell you what is worth keeping.
Do I get a certificate, and what is it worth?
After attending in full you receive a certificate of attendance stating the content, the scope and an individual verification code that can be checked online. Deliberately not called a diploma: we set no examination, and what we confirm is attendance. Our courses replace neither an apprenticeship nor training under the Austrian Vocational Training Act, and lead to no state-recognised qualification and no trade licence. For applications, a portfolio and client trust, it still counts.
Can I work with you afterwards?
We are always looking for good people. Participants who convince us during a course are invited to a trial day in the working shop — with no obligation on either side. Taking a course is neither a job offer nor a requirement for applying, but afterwards we know you better than any CV could tell us.
The next block starts as soon as the group is together.
Depending on the course, that is three to five sign-ups. The groups stay small because everyone should be corrected several times an evening — that is why there are no large classes, and why a block sometimes has to wait. If no date suits, put your name down.
Rather talk to someone? Write to us — we get back to you the same day.
