„Old school“ has turned into an interior style in recent years: brick wall, Edison bulbs, an old bicycle on the ceiling. None of that has anything to do with classic barbering. You recognise that by what's in the hand and how it's used.
What classic actually means
Three techniques older than any clipper. Scissor-over-comb, which keeps length while still giving shape. The straight razor for line-ups at forehead, temple and neck — a drawn edge runs out sharp and lasts longer than a milled one. And the wet shave with a hot towel, where preparing the skin decides the result rather than the blade.
Why it takes longer
Because none of those techniques can be sped up. A scissor cut needs more passes than a clipper cut, the hot towel needs its minutes, and a razor line-up forgives no haste. Anyone offering them in quarter-hour slots is leaving parts out — usually the parts you only miss after a week.
Classic doesn't mean old-fashioned
Fade, undercut and crop are modern cuts, and we do them daily. The difference lies in what the edges are made with and how much time the transition gets. Old technique and current cut don't exclude each other — on the contrary, that combination is why a fade stays sharp longer here.
What you won't find here
No costume. We have a black shopfront, five chairs and tools that get used. What looks like a barbershop here is simply what's there to work with — and when something stops performing, it gets replaced rather than hung on a wall.
