Barber at ONYX Cuts in Vienna cutting a man's hair

AFFORDABLE BARBER VIENNA · ONYX CutsAn affordable barber in Vienna — the sum nobody does out loud

Affordable isn't the same as cheap, and at a barber the difference lies in how long it lasts. A €22 cut that goes shapeless after ten days costs more over a year than a €42 one that sits for three or four weeks — because you need it more often. Nobody does that sum in the window, and it's the only comparison that says anything.

The sum over a year

Going every two weeks for a €22 cut costs around €570 a year. Going every four weeks at €42 comes to €546. That's practically the same money — for half as many appointments, and for a cut that looks better throughout. The numbers only tip if you can hold out just as long between visits at the cheaper shop; but then you can see that too.

Where saving makes sense

On anything that doesn't require a decision about shape. A plain one-length clipper cut, a tidy-up between two appointments, a child's haircut — none of those need three quarters of an hour, and anyone offering them cheaply is doing nothing wrong. Saving gets expensive on transitions, on line-ups and on everything drawn with a straight razor: that work can't be sped up, only left out.

The price that actually counts

Not the one on the list, the one at the till. Here it's €42 and everything is in it: consultation, wash, cut, line-ups, styling, product advice, a drink. We don't add items afterwards, and we don't charge a supplement for hair length or effort. You can check that in advance — the full price list is online, not just a starting price.

How to spend less without saving on the cut

First: book hair and beard together rather than separately — €68 instead of two singles. Second: put the appointment mid-week, when it's calmer and you're seen sooner. Third: ask at the appointment which product is actually needed. We also say when none is — that's the part of the consultation that saves the most.

Häufige Fragen

Was oft gefragt wird

What's your cheapest haircut?

The men's haircut from €42, with everything included. Children's cuts are less. There's deliberately no stripped-down rate without wash and styling — the result wouldn't be the same.

Are there discounts or offers?

There are reductions through the City of Vienna's Vorteilsclub; the conditions are on the homepage. On bookings made through Treatwell the discount can't be applied on top.

Can I pay by card?

Yes, debit and credit card, and cash of course. Gift cards can be redeemed too; any remainder stays as credit.

Is a subscription or a block of cuts worth it?

We don't offer one. If you come regularly, the best move is to book the next appointment at the chair — it costs nothing extra and secures the time you want.
